Mick and Grace - Our Wicked Lady, BK

September 30th, 2023

Love is a pizza, love is a dance floor, love is a cover band

The awesome thing about weddings today is that there are no rules.

Not only do queer weddings inherently feel more and more radical as the current political climate seems to get darker and darker, but they tend to invite a bit of “out of the box” thinking when it comes to the run of show.

Mick & Grace’s wedding read more like a big party; friends and family gathered at Our Wicked Lady, a well-known Brooklyn music venue with a rooftop bar and stage. Guests mingled and chatted, and were happily surprised with a live music performance by the bride’s brother’s No Doubt cover band - “Men Stefani.”

After rocking out to some favorite 90s & 2000s bangers, guests were welcomed by personal pizzas a plenty. Two cakes made their appearance later in the night, because two is better than one (duh), and the evening concluded with everyone getting their own chance to be a rockstar, running on stage and singing their hearts out to a majority of Olivia Rodrigo’s “Guts” album.

All in all, this night reminded me that there are no rules to love, or at least to a good party. If you’ve got good company, good food, and good music? You got it covered.
